CAMPING LINK IS HERE
Part of what makes Junior Guides Raft Camp so unique is family camping. JG Families come from watersheds all across the states, and they make new friends here among like minded folks. This year we have a camper from HAWAII!!!! While kids are having the time of their lives during the day, adults are free to boat, read in a lounge chair, go wine tasting, or inner tube. In the evenings, parents and kids are reunited and organized group activities occupy our time. One night will be a themed DANCE PARTY, one night will be kid-led skit night, and the last night, Wednesday, we host a slide show and closing ceremony before camp is over.
Payment for camping is not included in rafting program fees. Payment for camping/evening meals is each family's responsibility.
For 2019, interested families can join the majority of Junior Guides campers again at Earthtrek Campground. Earthtrek has fabulous facilities; clean electric bathrooms, river front access with put-ins and take-outs, grass for tent camping but also bunkhouse options, parking, shaded dining, and a central location within walking distance of the bakery and the famous Coloma Club. It is not a good location for kids to ride bikes onsite, but do bring frisbees and footballs and cornhole. Many JG families love to camp but don't want the hassle of cooking and hauling a kitchen, and camping at Earthtrek means healthy wholesome dinners and breakfasts are provided. Earthtrek does not allow individuals to prepare food onsite. Meals will be delicious wholesome (we loved last years taco night) and can accommodate most special food requests, and the price is oh so reasonable. Lemonade and coffee are provided, but adult or specialty drinks are not included, and you should bring your own. With environmental considerations in mind, Jerry requests participants bring their own drinking cups, but sturdy dishes for eating are provided. Evening activities are free to locals who will not be camping or doing meals with us, and I non-overnight rafters who wish to get in on meals can email Jerry at Earthtrek, and he can include you in meals for a reasonable fee.
Camping at Earthtrek for 2 nights (Monday and Tuesday nights) AND 5 hot meals (dinner Monday, Breakfast Tuesday, Dinner Tuesday, breakfast Wednesday, dinner Wednesday) is just $76 per person. Jerry loves our group, ad while other folks pay $96 for 2 nights and 5 meals, he is charging us $76; cause he's nice, and so are we. Book the basic package online, and if you want anything special (like additional nights or more meals) call and leave a message on his answering machine at (800) 229-8735
The camping reservation link is available here.
JG participants are welcome to make your own lodging arrangements elsewhere. Click here for more about Camp Lotus. Families may take advantage of the fresh restaurant options in Coloma: Squally's pizza, Marco's Roman style pizza, and the Aguas Blancas Taqueria.
